TEZU, Jun 10: Keeping in tune with the influx of returnees coming from all across India into the district, Lohit Police has streamlined its apparatus to supplement the Covid fightback efforts, besides discharging the normal law and order duties.
“The principal intention of the security update is to ensure safety of the returnees and their proper monitoring to contain any community spread of the virus. As some of them had returned from red zones, our teams are escorting them right from the Dirak check gate to the designated quarantine centres in the district. Despite shortage of manpower, security has been intensified in the institutional quarantine centres- both paid & government at Tezu, Sunpura and Wakro Circles,” SP Lohit DW Thongon informed. “People of the district needn’t panic due to the rising positive cases as round the clock guard of the Covid Care Centres (CCCs) and Institutional Quarantine Centres (IQCs) has been ensured and health department is also constantly monitoring the returnees,” SP assured.
For the safety of returnees, security has been beefed up along with safe passage of the returnees testing negative to their homes for further home quarantine. As per sources, although nakas and police deployment at sensitive pockets had been withdrawn, routine patrolling are being carried out by the police as usual.
