TEZU, Jul 8: In continuance with its instruction order dated July 3 to voluntarily dismantle illegal encroachments within the deadline of July 7 or face demolition, a team of district administration today bulldozed three makeshift structures that came up in Right of Way of the NH-13.
The demolition drive was led by Assistant Commissioner Sunny Singh, IAS, SDO & State Officer K Karmakar, DSP N Riba and LRSO D Norbu. When asked about the alleged partiality of DA in the eviction exercise as raised by the shopkeepers, DC Prince Dhawan, IAS said that Right of Way Rules help people drive safely and notice was already served to all government and private parties to remove their structures up to 30 meters on either side from the centre line of the NH and adhere to the guidelines strictly to avoid eviction.
“I am also planning to develop footpaths and better parking places to ensure beautification of the market and everyone should cooperate with the administration to get rid of the illegal encroachments,” DC said. Phase-wise evictions will be taken up at other inter-district, colony, village and sectors road too, DC added. Later, a few shopkeepers met the DC and raised their concern over the eviction drive.
