PASIGHAT, Apr 9: If the current 21-day nationwide lockdown is taking a heavy toll on citizens, with severe sufferers being the daily wage earners and labourers, there are also quite a few instances of humanism that will demand appreciation.
One such has come from the SP of Lower Dibang Valley district Sanjay Kr. Sain who has extended help to the needy and distressed people of Roing and nearby villages by providing them with daily meals.
Darbom Tayeng of Jia village who is a filmmaker and scriptwriter from the Adi tribe, renowned for films like ‘Aying Apong’, ‘Yelam Rine’ etc has appreciated the SP for his humanitarian gesture. While talking to this scribe, Tayeng said that Sain’s contribution and love for the people of Roing will be remembered for long. It is worth mentioning that the SP has arranged airlifting of necessary items with the help of the Indian Air Force using his own channels, which has also received praise from the local MLA of Roing Mutchu Mithi and the state’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Sain, however, prefers to maintain a low profile. When contacted, he informed that he is trying his best to help the poor and needy labourers affected badly by the lockdown. “We also have a plan to adopt 100 poor and needy families to ensure their fooding during the lockdown period and have already extended help by feeding people covering the Santipur gate on the Assam-Arunachal border,” he added.
