TEZU, Mar 17: A road safety awareness programme was successfully organised by the District Transport Office, Lohit District at the Lohit Petrol Pump premise, here today.

Apart from imparting awareness, Motor Vehicle checking was simultaneously carried out. However, no penalty was imposed on violators instead they were given awareness on road safety measures and different sections of Motor Vehicle Act under which they would be punishable for their offences.

Several queries pertaining to pollution testing and High Security Regulation Plates (HSRP) was also discussed and cleared.

SDO Tezu, Kajal Karmakar who graced the programme urged the public to follow proper road safety guidelines. He asked everyone to use helmets and seat belts while driving for their personal safety and follow traffic rules and regulations for the safety of pedestrians. He also emphasized on the importance of timely renewal of insurance, pollution certificates, and timely registration of HSRP.

Earlier, the District Transport Officer, Kenter Lendo while welcoming the audience stressed on importance of the programme. Drawing attention to the motive of the programme, she said that the programme is being organised to bring attitudinal change among the masses for which she urged everyone to take personal initiatives to road safety norms.

Private agencies like the Pollution Testing Centre and HSRP Agency also participated in the programme
