ITANAGAR, Oct 15: Residents of Piyong circle under Namsai district today called a 12-hour dawn to dask bandh against the state government and Oil India Limited for their lackadaisical attitude towards the dilapidated condition of the Piyong to Diyun stretch of road. Speaking to media person on condition of anonymity, a local informed that due to dilapidated road condition commuters are facing unspeakable problems, especially during medical emergencies. He also informed that villagers have restricted movement of oil tankers of Oil India Limited as they carry loads much above capacity causing damages to the roads.
The said road has never been repaired in last many decades, so with no option villagers voluntarily resorted to the bandh call. Moreover restriction on movement of OIL vehicle will only be lifted when they come for round table discussion with the villagers for an amicable solution.
Meanwhile, reacting to the bandh call, local MLA Zingnu Namchoom clarified in his official social media account that the maintenance work of the Namsai -Piyong road is being carried out by PWD ,Namsai division. The work of  the16km stretch of road has been stopped due to the ongoing festival and it will resume after the Durga Puja holidays.
