ITANAGAR, Sep 21: As a part of Swacch Mahotsava 2019, the Department of PHE & Water Supply division Itanagar conducted a social service program at Chimpu in collaboration with the Chimpu Women Welfare Society.
The volunteers also planted tree saplings alongside the road and cleaned all nearby localities.
Mission Director SBM(G) Er Sentum Yomcha interacted with the villagers regarding single-use plastic and encouraged them to promote a plastic-free environment.
He stressed upon the villagers to coordinate with the PHE department for the sustainability of ODF.  He appreciated the good work carried out by the women team and asked them to extend the work to other areas such as river cleaning.  
CWWS president Tamchi Kumari briefed the department regarding the cleanliness activities carried out by her team on a weekly basis to keep the village clean. 
She also told the pain the villagers are taking to maintain the self hired vehicle being used to dispose garbage. Newsdesk
