NAHARLAGUN, Apr 30: In an effort to check irregular trade practices during the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown, a team of Legal Metrology & CA officers of West Siang district on Thursday booked 3 traders and inspections were conducted in Changlang & Lohit districts.
Led by Assistant Controller Jomba Lobom Kamgo, the team conducted surprise inspection at various locations in Aalo township and booked 3 traders for violation of the provisions of Legal Metrology Act 2009 and Packaged Commodities Rule 2011 from Yoji-Yora and the daily market. At Bordumsa, Inspector Legal Metrology, Miao, Changlang district Abom Apum booked a trader for selling packaged items at exorbitant prices by manipulating the MRPs. The team inspected the trading units at Bordumsa, 40 km away from their office at Miao and warned the shopkeepers of the area of serious action if unfair practices are continued.
At Tezu, the Legal Metrology team headed by DCLM Minte Siga is keeping a strict vigil over the market rates particularly at Tezu township and its neighbouring areas since the lockdown was imposed. Assistant Controller Tezu Sutlu Singpho observed that traders of the township are abiding the laws and there are no complaints of overcharging.
All shops are displaying the rate charts of essential commodities fixed by the Deputy Commissioner, Lohit district, he added. LM & CA PR
