 ITANAGAR, May 20:Gibahappa, a little known village under the Capital Complex Administration was lighted up today for the first time through solar home lighting system. The village located some 10 Km from the capital city is inhabited by 16 families.

The 14 units of Solar Home lighting system which was sanctioned from DC’s Untied fund and executed by the Department of Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency was inaugurated today by Deputy Commissioner Capital complex, Prince Dhawan.

The DC, SP Capital Sagar Singh Khalsi including APEDA official among others reached the village after a 6km long foot-march from the entrance of Zoological Park, Itanagar.

Speaking to the crowd gathered, the DC expressed his sadness that a village located 10 Kms from the capital is not yet connected to the power grid and assured to look into the matter. The DC also endorsed the request placed by the All Lorr Bath Youth Association (ALBYA) for construction of CC footpath from Lorr Village to Giba Village and assured to take up the matter on priority.

The DC while interacting with the villagers opined that the village has lot of potential to be developed as adventure tourist spot due to its beautiful landscape and proximity to the state capital and asked the villages to focus on the same.

Earlier, the DC along with the SP inspected the Lor-putung Primary School where safety fencing and toilets were constructed for school children. The safety-fencing and other electrical items such as fan, lighting system were sanctioned from DC’s untied fund 2017-18.
