ITANAGAR, Nov 22:
The Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) is all set to organize the second edition of the Arunachal Literature Festival here at the DK Convention Centre from November 27-29.
The event is being organized by the DIPR in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society. The fest aims not only to create awareness on the importance of literature and its impact on society but also to encourage the youths to take up creative writing seriously and make a career out of it.
This year the department has invited famous authors and literary stalwarts, poets from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Singapore, Nepal, etc which include Jerry Pinto, Manglesh Debral, Uday Prakash, Nithin Gokhle, YD Thongchi, Mamang Dai among others.
Announcing this in a press conference here today, Director, IPR, Obang Tayeng divulged that the objective is to provide a common platform to talented souls to showcase, discuss, celebrate and learn about all things Art and Literature.
"The department is putting every effort and leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the LitFest 2019 is a grand success. All the officers and staff have been engaged to work diligently with meticulous planning for smooth organization of the festival," Tayeng added.
APLS, President, YD Thongchi said that Lit fest is a festival with a difference - conceptualized to provide hidden talents a chance to swap, learn and share ideas with distinguished authors from the country.
In addition, he said that it will also connect the mainstream literature to the North-East literature which is in nascent stage. Some of the topics to be discussed by the authors are 'Challenges in developing indigenous scripts, Literature and cinema, Writer's responsibility, North-East as a different center, Role of children's Literature in nurturing creativity, Nationalism in the present scenario, Oral literary traditions in India, etc.
An array of cultural programs, book exhibitions, and film shows will be held simultaneously in addition to poem writing competition among the school students, college and university students in order to encourage budding poets of the state.
Minister, PHED & WS, Wangki Lowang and Speaker, Legislative Assembly, PD Sona are expected to attend as Chief Guest on the inaugural and valedictory program.
