ITANAGAR, Sep 27: The Minister for Health, R&D and Panchayati Raj, Alo Libang inaugurated a one day workshop on POCSO Act, 2012, Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Amendment Act, 2016 and other issues relating to health, trafficking , child abuse, adoption etc. here on Wednesday.
Speaking as chief guest, Libang advised parents to take care of their children by giving proper education, healthcare, security and safety for their all round development. The minister appealed to both the Centre and state governments for giving more emphasis on women empowerment so that they can promote upbringing of children and their protection of rights and privileges.
During the technical session, Yashwant Jain, member of NCPCR, as resource person dwelt at length on child rights, issues and role of NCPCR/SCPCR and also Juvenile Justice Care, etc. Advocate Ravindra A. Lokhande spoke on protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and its related issues. Rosanna Lyngdoh, Director, Impulse NGO Network, spoke on migrant children, adoption of children and advocate Sunil Mow elaborated on Child Labour Amendment Act, 2016.
The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) organized the workshop in a befitting manner under the aegis of National Commission For Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).
