NAHARLAGUN, Jan 23: A team of Legal Metrology officers, in their routine surprise inspection conducted at Pachin Colony and Wednesday Market at Papu Nalah has booked 19 traders under  various provisions  of Legal Metrology Act.
The traders were found using weights, measures, weighing and measuring instruments without getting periodical verification while some of them could not produce the verification certificate at the time of inspection.
The team consisting  of Inspector LM & CA Papumpare District, Debia Tana and Itanagar Inspector G Singpho  accompanied by departmental officials and police personnel from Naharlagun Police station have seized the weights and measures possessed by them for violation of the Act and Rules.
Inspectors with their jurisdiction of Papum Pare District including Capital Complex have appealed traders to cooperate with the Department by getting their weights and measures verified and checked for accuracy on time so as to avoid short delivery of commodities to their customers.Failure  to this  will invite  necessary action as per the provisions of the Act.
