Namsai, Feb 26: A day-long Legal Awareness Camp to sensitise women on Compulsory Registration of Marriage, Free Legal Aids, Maternity Benefits Act etc was conducted here by Women Welfare Society, Namsai on Wednesday.
Chairperson APSCW Radhilu Chai Techi stressed on early set up of a separate Family Court and Protection Officer for redressal of justice. Speaking on women empowerment, she said true empowerment would be possible only when women will actively participate in political, economic and social roles competing with their men counterparts. “Women have been empowered by giving various beneficiaries, relaxation and enacting laws which we should be realized and any injustice should propel knocking the doors of the courts”, Chairperson opined. 
“Self-respect and dignity of women is the right empowerment,” said DC Namsai Bijoy Talukdar and advised to remain aware of the schemes and flagship programmes of both central and state governments.   
Several confronting women issues including power of empowerment, Compulsory Registration of Marriage & Free Legal Aids, Maternity Benefits Act 1961 were discussed by Advocate Likha Joya, Member APSCW. 
The camp was organized by Women Welfare Society, Namsai in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women.
