Itanagar, Mar 13: A legal aid clinic set up by Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kurung Kumey to cater to the needs of the people of the district was inaugurated at Court Complex, Koloriang on March 12 last.
The inauguration was made jointly by the Guest of Honour and DC Kento Riba and SP Minjom Ete who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. 
Judicial Magistrate First Class cum Secretary DLSA Kenyir Kato delivered the welcome address and Member Secretary, APSLSA Budi Habung elaborated the roles of State and District Legal Services Authorities in providing free and competent legal services to the weaker sections of society.
She informed that various legal awareness related activities will be conducted through the clinic and requested those attending the event to share the news in their respective neighbourhood.  DC while mentioning the connectivity challenges faced by Koloriang which is approximately 300 kms away from state capital, expressed gratitude to APSLSA and DLSA for opening the clinic and requested the people to avail its benefits and assured full support from his department in similar initiatives.
Besides the inauguration, an induction training for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and Legal Aid Counsels was conducted at the same venue which covered various legal awareness related topics. On public demand, Member Secretary, APSLSA briefed the GBs about their roles and functions as provided under the provisions of Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation (AFR) 1945.

With establishment of the LAC, the number of such clinics in the state has risen to eight, all of which had been established with support from the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, GoI under the ‘Access to Justice: North East and Jammu & Kashmir (A2J NE & JK) Project.’ Newsdesk
