ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Along with the rest of the country, Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) in collaboration with Jarbom Gamlin Government Law College today observed the 70th Constitution Day at the institute’s Conference Hall with a solemn and glittering function.
As a part of the celebration, a Legal Aid Clinic and Legal Literacy Club cum Library supported by Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority was formally inaugurated by Commissioner, Law and Judicial G. S. Meena in the presence Member Secretary(APSLSA) Budi Habung, Senior Additional Advocate of Arunachal Pradesh Kardak Ete, Deputy Secretary, Law and Judicial Dani Belo, Incharge Principal Mizum Nyodu, CO Takam Nicholas, Human Rights activist Sunil Mow, faculties, students and staff of the college. The programme also saw the formal donation of books for the Legal Aid Clinic and college library through the Delhi based NGO Sarvahitey under its project ‘Paper Bridge’ who donated nearly 1000 books, while one full set of Bare Acts were donated by the State Authority and Budi Habung donated 35 Volumes of Air Manuals for the use of the Clinic.  
During the programme, Member Secretary APSLSA highlighted the various activities undertaken by the Legal Services in the state and called upon the youths to be law abiding citizens and help in access to justice by all marginalized people of society. The program also saw two presentations on the topic ‘Making of the India Constitution and the constitutional rights of the Tribals of the North East India’ by the Senior Additional Advocate General. He gave a brief history about the development of the Constitution and about the special provisions provided to Northeast states with regards to land and resources, traditions and cultures and opined that Article 372 provides legal protection to the indigenous communities in today’s times. Sunil Mow spoke about the fundamental duties of every citizen with special reference to Arunachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Legal Services Authorities of Tawang, Seppa, Yinkiong, Longding, Hawai, Khonsa and Roing also conducted programs in their respective districts to mark the occasion. APSLSA PR
