TATO, Jul 5: Heavy rain triggered a massive landslide in Shi Yomi district, causing widespread destruction and chaos. As per the report from SDMA, one person went missing due to a heavy landslide.
The incident occurred around midnight of Thursday last, when  heavy boulders with  8-10 feet slush, and numerous trees came crashing into the Porter camp at Pokhar. Two porters rushed to the nearby Indian Army camp at Pokhar to report the catastrophic event. The swift response of the Indian Army led to the immediate rescue of one person who was trapped under a tree trunk. The rescue team skillfully cut through the trunk and brought him to safety.
The man identified as Rinzin sustained multiple injuries, including open cut wounds on his left backside. The Army medical team promptly administered first aid.
However, the situation remains critical as another porter  identified as  Taba Dui, is still missing. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the Indian Army conducted an overnight search operation but could not locate him. The search and rescue efforts resumed at dawn, but the area continues to experience frequent landslides, with heavy boulders cascading down the mountains, hindering the operations.
The Indian Army remains dedicated to locating  Taba Dui and ensuring the safety of all affected individuals. The community is urged to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols as the rescue efforts continue under these challenging conditions, the army said.
