Khonsa, Jul 7:  Tirap Deputy Commissioner Bhanu Prabha on Tuesday graced a one-day ‘Workshop on Multi-nutritional Gardening’ for the in-service field staff of the Agriculture and Horticulture departments of the district, organised under the aegis of KVK (Krishi Vigyan Kendra) Tirap, here at the Kamlesh Joshi Conference Hall.
While urging the field staff of the Agriculture and Horticulture departments to acquire proper training on multi-nutritional gardening from KVK Scientists/resources persons, she said that the soil of Tirap district in particular and the state as a whole is suitable for kitchen gardening and other activities. She observed that due to lack of scientific farming knowledge, the district’s people remain dependent on Assam for purchase of rice/potatoes and other essential commodities and urged the scientists/experts of KVK to impart training to all the in-service field staff of the horticulture/ agriculture/veterinary/ fishery departments to spread more awareness on kitchen gardening. The aims and objectives of the meeting  was highlighted by KVK Head and Sr. Scientist. Dr. D. S. Chhonkar. The workshop was attended by all the subject-matter scientists of KVK Tirap as Resource Persons, DHO Henrik Basar, SDAO, DVO, DFDO and field staff of Agriculture/Horticulture departments. DIPRO
