Kanubari, Jun 30: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longding conducted a training programme titled ‘Importance of Soybean as Intercrop for Maintaining Soil Fertility in Jhumland’ on June 29 last here at the Luaksim Community Hall.
I/c Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Longding Dr A. Kirankumar Singh highlighted the importance of cropping system for maintaining soil fertility and sustainable productivity of food grains. During the technical session, Dr Singh discussed the importance of soybean in cropping system under jhumland method in order to conserve soil and maintain its fertility for sustainable production and highlighted the problems and prospects of the farmers in this regard.
Altogether 25 members mostly from different Self Help Groups (SHGs) participated in the training and cleared their doubts and took suggestions from Dr Singh. Drawing reference to the current difficult times caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, he urged the participants to grow sufficient crops, vegetables, fruit, etc. to face any exigency arising out of diseases, natural calamities etc.
President of the Interim Committee, Luaksim Village Raju Wangjen and Manpha Wangjen, a progressive farmer were also present on the occasion. KVK Longding PR
