KHONSA, Jan 4:  North East Brand Ambassador cum Convener Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and adviser to Chief Minister  Sotai Kri led a mass cleanliness drive under the banner of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in collaboration with the Tirap district administration and UD department on January 3.
The cleanliness drive started from Deomali town, Borduria village and Kaimai village and today reached Khonsa before commencing to Dadam circle headquarters tomorrow and then proceeding to Longding district.
While leading the cleanliness drive, Kri said that he has conducted cleanliness drives under the banner of SBA campaign in all the Northeastern states within four months except Mizoram. Appreciating the DC Tirap for initiating construction of iconic toilets at  Khonsa, he stressed that the streams of the town must be preserved by abolishing open defecation  and instructed residents to construct proper sanitary toilets with septic tank and soak pit so that stream water is not polluted.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon briefed about the importance of conducting mass cleanliness drive under the SBA banner.
