ITANAGAR, May 1:Joy 7 Foundation, an NGO based in Nitivihar, Itanagar conducted a day consultative programme –know your ward at its office for the residents of municipal ward number eight to encourage and invite their opinion on development  process , prevailing technical and social issues at the said ward.

With the establishment of many business units and increasing population, the municipal ward remains crowded. However, in equation to the growth of population and trade development the people of the ward has very less access to public utilities such as street lights, sign board for the blind road curve, proper drainage system, cable connection for telephone and internet. Due to such drawbacks  the said colony  remains detached and heighten  the occurrence of different types of crimes  especially at   night hours ;  such as vehicle lifting, gang fight , road accident , theft, substance abuse , prostitution, purse and mobile snatching from communicators (reported by the participants). Therefore, the main objective of the consultative programme was to  initiate  dialogue between different sectors of the public and to provide broad general information on best practices of governance. The NGO provided invaluable civil society knowledge, urban local body and the work of ward committees.

The programme was attended by government officers, businessmen, student, youths, community leaders and others.
