ITANAGAR, Feb 19: The Kargu Kardi Students’ Union (KKSU) today lodged a fresh representation with the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, West Siang District demanding re-verification of construction of auditorium cum community hall at Liromoba while cautioning of rigorous democratic agitation beginning with a sit-in protest at the DC office on March 6 next.
The KKSU in a press conference in the state capital recently had levelled corruption charges against the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) for siphoning off Rs 30 Lakh meant for the construction of community hall cum auditorium at Liromoba in West Siang district by showing an already existing structure as proof.
The union said that the fresh complaint was necessary as the West Siang District administration had completely ignored the concerns raised by the Union and the general populace of Liromoba Township.
Although an inspection team constituted by the West Siang DA visited Liromoba on February 15, it has not gone down well with the Union who stated that the team was accompanied by officials of DRDA, West Siang under whom this supposed malpractice took place.
DRDA, West Siang in order to hide their misdeeds has been claiming the already constructed Gaon Burah Dere under PWD Yomcha Division as the Auditorium/ Community Hall. But this has been straightaway refuted by PWD Yomcha Division.  In order to ensure transparency and to clear misgivings among the different line departments, West Siang DA should reconstitute the verification team comprising of officials from other departments barring DRDA, West Siang and PWD Yomcha Division with members from KKSU also in it, the Union said in a release this evening.
