 Arunachal to provide Rs 1000 one-time relief to BPL families

Itanagar, Mar 27: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has welcomed the Centre’s Rs 1.7 lakh crore economic relief package aimed at providing a safety net to the hardest hit due to the Covid-19 lockdown. 
Extending gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Khandu appreciated the sensible steps taken by the central government. 
“This has motivated people to be more resilient in their fight against Covid-19,” Khandu said while categorically highlighting the benefits that would be reaped by the people of the state from the package. 
Along with the central package, in a major decision taken on Friday, state government announced it shall also provide Rs.1000 each to all the BPL families in the state as a one-time assistance to cope up during the trying times which shall cover 1,77,213 families and cost the state exchequer Rs. 17.72 crore. Another important announcement made on the day was to provide assistance to the families whose livelihoods have been seriously affected due to the lockdown. DCs have been directed to identify this vulnerable population and provide assistance in form of either ration or cash. 
As per the central economic package, 44660 beneficiaries under Ujjawala Yojana will be getting free LPG cylinders in next three months in the state and 2771 Self Help Groups of the state would reap the benefit of collateral-free loans which have been doubled to Rs. 20 lakh. 48912 beneficiaries of the state consisting senior citizens, poor widows and poor disabled would get the benefit of ex-gratia of Rs. 1000 per month for three months. 148064 Women Jan Dhan Account holders in state will get Rs. 500 per month for three months to run household during this period and 65000 state farmers shall receive Rs. 1000 as the first instalment of the top-up amount announced in the budget in addition to the central incentive of Rs. 2000. 
MNREGA workers in state will get an increased wage from Rs. 182 to Rs 202 and Prime Minister’s Garib Kalyan Yojana will ensure that each person falling under this category from the state will get an additional 5 kg rice or wheat per month and 1 kg preferred pulses free for three months. Health workers of the state will also be covered under the Rs. 50 lakh medical insurance coverage which is a major highlight of the central economic package. CMO
