ITANAGAR, Apr 13:The sustained focus on use of technology driven solutions to usher in transparency and accountability in governance by the Pema Khandu led government continually faced the challenges of connectivity in the remote regions of the state. The lack and poor connectivity remained one of the biggest roadblocks in upscaling the digital initiatives towards the remote regions of the state.

The department of telecom has already sanctioned adequate funds for taking reliable connectivity upto the gram panchayats in the state and has set ambitious targets to complete the projects by 2019.

The Chief Minister today visited the facility of X at the Silicon Valley to understand the emerging technologies to connect the unconnected with Internet.

Khandu was happy to be shown very futuristic alternative technologies to take internet to the areas with harsh and inaccessible terrains which could be installed in few days.

My vision of a digital driven transparent governance will remain concentrated only in few urban pockets if the issue of connectivity is not resolved in the shortest possible time, said Khandu, while adding that his Govt will be very keen to adopt this technology which would provide high speed Internet to remote areas in the shortest possible time frame which would augment the ongoing optical fibre solutions under implementation by DOT.

Khandu urged on the chief secretary to facilitate a team of experts to study and project the requirements immediately
