NAHARLAGUN, Feb 15: The state level Kayakalp Award ceremony was held today at a city hotel in Naharlagun organized by National Health Mission, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
Commendation certificates and cheques were given away by Director Family Welfare Dr. A Yirang to the winners in different categories comprising district hospitals and community health centres in presence of senior officials of Mission district hospitals and Directorate, National Health Mission and Directorate of Family Welfare.
General Hospital, Pasighat took away the best hospital award among all the district hospitals and received a commendation certificate and cheque worth Rs 50 lakhs.
Community Health Centre, Rupa, a new entrant was declared winner among the community health centres and received a commendation certificate and cheque worth Rs 15 lakhs. Other award recipients in CHC category were CHC Ruksin, CHC Kimin and CHC Deomali who received commendation certificates and cheques worth Rs 1 lakh each.
Jt Director Health Services (Family Welfare) and Nodal Officer Quality Assurance Dr. S. Bhattacharjee, announcing the awardees explained that awarding such facilities encourages others to do well. He informed that there are different sets of markings for CHCs, DHs and PHCs. He further encouraged all to pull up the PHCs too in order to receive award and hoped there would be more number of award winners next time.
Jt Director Health Services and Chief Medical Superintendent, General Hospital, Pasighat Dr. D. Raina, accepting the award shared that this encourages and motivates the workers to work even better. He hoped this scheme of Kayakalp Award continues and there is more competition among all the districts.
Nodal officer (HMIS) Dr. A. Perme, however expressed her displeasure in non-improvement of service delivery in health facilities. She said that more clients will come if hospitals are kept clean and it will in turn encourage more institutional deliveries.
Dr. S.P. Thungon while receiving the award for CHC Rupa shared that feedbacks received from the patients’ show improvement in cleanliness in CHC Rupa after introduction of Kayakalp Award, an indication of moral boosting of the workers.

Receiving the award for CHC Deomali Dr. Shankar Roy shared that sanitation at CHC Deomali was at a great mess when it was handed over 2-3 years ago by Karuna Trust,but now it is in shape and Kayakalp Award amount though small has helped a lot in moral boosting of the workers.

Director Family Welfare Dr. A. Yirang in his speech congratulated all the award recipients in attaining the highest target and expressed his satisfaction with the selection team too for their wonderful work in genuinely selecting the winners. He also suggested for the award to be given during Statehood Day in order to receive wide publicity it deserves.
Dr. Kadum Jonnom received the award for CHC Ruksin and Dr. Kuru Genda received the award for CHC Kimin. NHM, IEC
