ITANAGAR, Feb 16: Techi Kaso, the lone JDU MLA in the state assembly has blamed the BJP-led ruling state government for delay in implementation of various development projects in the capital.
The ICR MLA brought the allegation today while inspecting the ongoing construction site of the underpass road at Bank Tinali along with the officials from the Highway department, administration and executing agency. Speaking to the reporters, Kaso said there are some sections of people who don’t want Itanagar to be developed as a Smart City. The Centre has sanctioned at least Rs 100 crore for the first phase of the Smart City project and the fund has remained parked in the state exchequer for the last two years, he said. “Moreover, at least 27 km CC pavement roads were sanctioned in the first phase and the contractors have also completed many of such projects. However, payments are yet to be released due to which many projects are still pending,” Kaso alleged. When asked about the pending works of nine suspension bridges in the Capital Region, Kaso informed that for the last two years he has been writing to the state government to draw attention. Letters were submitted to the concerned RWD Minister and the Planning department, but till date no positive response has arrived, he said.
“As of now I am using the MLA LAD fund for maintenance of the bridges which is not sufficient. Being the local MLA it’s my duty to apprise the government about the grievances of the denizens. But sanctioning of funds depends totally on the ruling government,” the MLA added.
