ITANAGAR, Jun 19: One unit of 150 MW out of the 600 MW Kameng Hydro-Electric Project (4x150 MW) has been successfully commissioned for commercial operation by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) on June 17 last.
It was also informed to the Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein who is also the Minister In-charge of Power & Renewable Energy Resources that the second unit is expected to be commissioned within a week and the other two turbines shall be commissioned after completion of penstock repair works with the target to make them commercially operational within the 2020-21 fiscal.
After successful commissioning of all the four units of Kameng HEP (4x150 MW), Arunachal Pradesh will receive a share of 83 MW power. “Apart from revenue generation, this project will provide employment opportunities to the state’s educated youths and promote industrialization in the region,” Mein said.
With the commissioning of this unit, Arunachal will receive 13.83% i.e., 20.75 MW out of 150 MW Kameng HEP in which 12 % will come as free power to the state and the remaining 1.83% as shared allocation. DCM Media cell
