Aalo, Nov 2: The 2nd Edition of Er. Jumtum Tato Memorial Volleyball Tournament got off to a flying start today here at the Keak School Ground organised by Keak Youth Association in collaboration with District Olympic Association.
Altogether 19 women and 9 men teams from West Siang, Siang, Shi- Yomi and Leppa Rada districts are in fray. Attending the tournament as Chief Guest, In-charge Deputy Commissioner C. Chukhu lauded the way the tournament is being conducted in the outskirts of West Siang district in fond memory Er. Jumtum Tato, the former Chief Engineer of Power Department and stressed on taking forward the tournament in its true spirit. DDSE West Siang Eto Ete said that volleyball being an affordable game requiring little space, should be played in all schools and villages. Special Guest and President WSDSU Lukken Gamlin urged students to take sports as co-curricular activities and excel in them for opening new avenues. Chief Patron T. Tato, Organizing Chairman Mukto Tato and President Minku Tato also spoke on the life and achievements of late Jumtum Tato.
In the opening match in men’s category Pushi Bango Sports Club outclassed defending champions Dongin Ao Sports Club in two straight sets. DIPRO
