PASIGHAT, Sep 26: The department of Hindi, Jawaharlal Nehru college Pasighat organised a screening of a short movie ‘Compulsion’ with a workshop on the subject of Short Film Making in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society, East Siang branch at the college today which was graced by the Principal Dr. Tasi Taloh as chief guest and Dr. Rajesh Verma Associate Professor as Guest of honour.
The welcome address was delivered by the president of the APLS, East Siang, Ponung Ering Angu who welcomed all the guests, cast and crew of the screened movie and the student participants attending the workshop and briefed the audience on the objective of the meet.
A felicitation session was also arranged to honour the best story writer, Atul Jerang whose story has been made into a movie by a talented member Ninur Padung. The short story ‘Compulsion’, was selected from among numerous submissions for an original short story writing competition which was earlier arranged by the East Siang Branch along with the cast of the movie.
Thereafter, Mrs Manjulata, a member of APLS presented a beautiful poem on daughters and social issues on which the movie is founded upon.
The guests, including Dr.HN Pandey, Associate Professor and HoD, department of Hindi in their speeches commended the collaborative efforts put together to nurture the creative talents in the region and recommended that more such workshops and seminars should be organised in future also.
Dr. Mumne Perme Associate Professor, Hindi also spoke on the occasion. The success of the workshop highlights the commitment of JNC Pasighat and the APLS, East Siang in promoting artistic opportunities for emerging talents in the field of filmmaking and the organising secretary Dr. Ing Perme expressed her satisfaction at the workshop’s turn out.
The meet ended with the screening of the short film which left a profound impression on the viewers which emphasised the impact of the audio visual medium and the strong story telling potential of the medium.
