ITANAGAR, Feb 9: Nearly two years after its selection as Smart City, Itanagar will be soon equipped with the Integrated Command & Control Center (ICCC) as its first project under Smart City.
Itanagar was selected under Smart City project in 2018 and the works were taken-up in 2019 onwards, informed the Chief Executive Officer of Smart City Project, Itanagar, Bhanu Prabha in the recently held coordination meeting of Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan at Itanagar.
Denizens may have noticed CCTVs and Poles in different locations like Chimpu, Ganga, Nitivihar, Bank Tinali, and other areas of the capital complex.
Elaborating about the Integrated Command & Control Center, CEO informed that at least 60 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras are being installed in various locations of the twin capital. ‘As of now 40 CCTVs will be installed in Itanagar and rest 20 at Naharlagun,' she added.
The CCTVs are being installed in various crime prone locations after deliberate discussion with capital police. The CCTVs will confer live feeds 24x7 with supporting staff from various departments like Police, Medical, Fire & Emergency and others.
‘If any anti-social activities are been detected or there is an apprehension of some kind of crime, the control room will directly confer information to the nearest police station or patrolling team, it will help the police in containing crime in the capital,' she asserted. 'Citizens are the eyes and ears of the state, so they can also share information related to any anti-social activities to the Integrated Command & Control Center so that the center can send related information to concern Police team on the ground,' stated the CEO while informing that ICCC is near complete and expected to be launched this Statehood Day.
Besides another important project, the mechanical parking system and modern streetlights in Itanagar is in the pipeline.
'As of now, we have selected two places one at Civil Secretariat and other in the periphery of IG park. At Civil Secretariat parking system will have G+ 4 facilities and near IG Park it will be G+3,' the CEO said.
The objective of the Smart City is not to create big structures but to give facilities for the convenience of denizens along with the ongoing projects of various departments, she added.
