ITANAGAR, Mar 20: Heema Hospital Itanagar on Friday set up a sample collection laboratory for COVID-19, which would be made functional very soon, informed Medical Superintendent of Heema Hospital, Kesang Thongdok.
Interacting with this daily, Dr. Thongdok said that so far they have set up an isolated ward for sample collection and currently are in the process of getting logistic support to start the chamber.
"The government has promised to provide us with some equipment to collect samples that will be sent to testing center established at the RK mission hospital and Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science (TRIHMS)," he said.
Appealing public not to panic but prepare, he also cleared the misconception that having a runny nose does not mean you have novel coronavirus as it could be seasonal flu.
He said that a person who has symptoms such as shortness of breath, high fever and sore throat with a history of travel may examine themselves at nearest testing centre.
