ITANAGAR, Sep 11:  Clarifying rumours surrounding an alleged robbery attempt and gun fire on the Itanagar-Guwahati Blue Hill night service bus near Koliabor in Nagaon district of Assam on September 10 last, Capital SP Tumme Amo informed that an accident occurred due to the damaged suspension and no robbery attempt had been made as alleged.
According to the statement provided by the driver of the bus bearing Registration Number AS 01JC 2188, it collided with concrete pillars of Kaliabhumura Bridge due to the damaged suspension at around 2.30 am which caused a loud noise. As a result, passengers got panicked and a few among them mistook it to be a robbery attempt with bullets being fired to stop the bus,” SP stated.
Gripped with panic, the driver stopped the bus after driving a certain distance and all the passengers also alighted from the bus in the process. Later it was found that the bus has only sustained some damages with no bullet mark found and there wasn’t any attempt of robbery, SP added.
However, according to reports received from SDPO Koliabor, Blue Hill Bus slightly knocked another bus coming from the opposite direction near the bridge which led it to collision with the concrete pillar.
