ZIRO, Feb 28: A three-day national workshop on ‘Open Source Software for Digital Libraries and Library Automation’ was conducted by the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Bangalore here at the Saint Claret College from February 25-27.
Resource Persons from DRTC ISI Bangalore, its present Head Professor Devika Madalli & Professor (Rtd) A R D Prasad and Dr Firstborn Sumer from NEHU Shillong imparted training on appropriate skills, information and experience in digital libraries and Library Management Systems during the workshop conducted in collaboration with SCCZ. They also equipped the participants with knowledge of DSpace and KOHA software in an effort to strengthen library automation and digital collection management in Northeast India and trained them through demonstration and hands-on-practice on Open Source Software.
Altogether sixteen participants who were librarians, assistant librarians and students of library sciences from seven institutions of the NorthEast took part in the three-day workshop. This was the 64th workshop conducted by the Resource Persons who are renowned both in India and abroad for their training skills. SCCZ PR
