ITANAGAR, Apr 9: A First Information Report has been registered against IRBn personnel for allegedly manhandling a healthcare staff serving as SI ( NVBDCP) at DHS, Naharlagun while returning home after attending assigned COVID-19 duties near Catholic Church,D Sector, Nirjuli on April 7.
In a complaint letter addressed to the officer in charge, Naharlagun by Directorate of Health Services, Director, M Lego expressed deep concern over atrocity meted out to one of its frontline health officials.
According to victim's testimonial as mentioned in the complaint letter, the incident took place near D Sector, Nirjuli when he was physically assaulted by IRBn personnel deputed on Naka duty while he was going back home.
Asserting that the DHS recognizes the responsibilities of police personnel during the implementation of section 144 of CrPC however regreted that it is wrong to beat an official who is part of Emergency Essential Services(EES) carrying valid documents which include I Card issued by DHS, special movement permit given by Magistrate, driving license and other documents.
The DHS requested to initiate necessary action against the IRBn personnel within 36 hours and urged the authority to ensure that such incident is not repeated again.
Meanwhile, Capital SP, Tumme Amo taking exception of the incident has ordered an investigation under Nrj/PS/Case No 13/20 U/S 341/325/323/34 IPC regd and endorsed it to DySP, R Kamsi for investigating the case.
To ensure free and transparent inquiry into the incident, Amo said he ordered a DySP level inquiry into the matter so that those involved in the incident are brought to justice.
