TEZU, Apr 3: As a mark of recognition of the services rendered by its LPG delivery personnel during the ongoing lockdown period, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh in case of death due to Covid-19.
The scheme will cover the LPG showroom staff, godown keepers, LPG mechanics, LPG delivery boys, retail outlet customer attendants, truck drivers and bulk/pack transporters. The said amount will be paid to their spouses and in case of their absence, it will be paid to the next of the kin of the deceased, Nodal Officer LPG Tezu & Medo Lohit district, Gajendra Pathak informed.
It’s worth noting that under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) central government has announced free refills to all PMUY customers for the next three months from April 20 to June 20.
Meanwhile, IOCL officials have assured that LPG distributors are continuing with their usual activities under observation of the state and local administrations. As per sources, LPG cylinders are well stocked to meet the demand during the lockdown period and customers have been advised not to panic or resort to hoarding.
