PASIGHAT, Sep 14:Acknowledging the immense contributions of Women Against Social Evils (WASE) to make East Siang a drugs-free district, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) donated a Tata Sumo to the WASE team, through the Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering in presence of the East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak among others.

Earlier in an interactive meeting held in the office conference hall, MP Ering while appreciating the untiring efforts of the members of WASE team stated that they have set an example for the entire state and the nation as a whole. Easy availability and accessibility of drugs in NER was a big threat to the new generation but it was remarkably checked by our group of courageous mothers, known as WASE, stated Ering. They have touched new height of excellence and deserve more recognition, he added.

 Ering further informed that he had requested the Union Petroleum Minister to provide one vehicle for WASE and an auditorium for Ruksin Govt Hr. Sec. School for which rupees one crore was released by IOC and the construction work was started under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

General Secretary of WASE, Joya Tasung Moyong also spoke on the occasion.
