ITANAGAR, Jun 20: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu while extending warm greetings on the eve of the 5th International Day of Yoga has appealed all citizens of the state to participate enthusiastically in the programmes organised to commemorate the day.
Governor in his message reminded that practice of Yoga, the ancient traditional Indian concept controls and synthesises body, mind and spirit leading to general wellness of human beings and its importance has been acknowledged over the passage of time and more particularly in this stressful modern world. Today, it is a universally settled belief that Yoga is the best route to positivity, alacrity and empathy, he said.
He recalled the historic occasion on September 27, 2014 when the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly unanimously accepted 21st of June as the International Day of Yoga to be observed annually. He also expressed confidence that this year’s theme ‘Climate Action’, will definitely attract universal attention towards the alarming aspects of climate change and rapid deterioration of ecology which are leading humankind to the brink of disaster.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu in his message has called upon the people of the state to actively participate in the celebrations and try making Yoga a regular morning affair. “A healthy mind, a healthy body and a healthy character will determine a healthy state and a healthy country”, CM said.
He also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for playing an instrumental role in making International Day of Yoga an annual global affair. 
Khandu will be attending a Yoga Shivir at the capital on June 21 with his ministers, MLA colleagues, top bureaucrats, officers and staff of the Secretariat at Arunachal Pradesh State Civil Secretariat. PRO Raj Bhavan, CMO
