ITANAGAR, Nov 21: The second Arunachal Pradesh Central Government Inter-departmental Cricket Tournament started at APBn Ground Chimpu, in Itanagar today. Dilip Siram, General Manager BSNL, Arunachal Pradesh, while declaring the tournament open, said that such recreational sporting activities are important for government employees to relax in their daily busy and monotonous schedule.
The opening match was played between Prasar Bharati and India Post, the defending champion. Prasar Bharati won the match in a close contest by only 5 runs. Batting first Prasar Bharati put up 98 runs on the board in 20 overs. In return India Post was bowled out for 93 runs in 17.2 overs. India Post skipper Kabit Taki scored crucial 29 runs. For Prasar Bharati, Rakesh Doley top scored with 22 runs.
BR Meena was declared man-of-the-match for his 4 wicket haul and blistering 3 ball 10 runs.
Three teams Prasar Bharati (AIR and Doordarshan), India Post and BSNL are participating in the tournament. Central Government Inter-departmental Cricket Tournament is a running trophy being played by the central government departments in Arunachal Pradesh. The organizers have said that the aim of the event is to create a platform for better understanding and mutual cooperation among all the central government employees in the state.
