Naharlagun, Feb 5: National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) has launched an Injectable-Free All-Oral Longer Regimen drug for drug resistant TB patients here at the District TB Centre cum Nodal Drug-Resistant TB Centre.
The drug was launched by Director Health Services, Dr. M Lego through administration of the first dose to an eligible patient in presence of State TB Officer Dr. Moi Nyori, Chief Medical Superintendent, TRIHMS H. Ambing, District TB Officer (NTEP) Dr. PD Thongchi and Senior  Medical Officers and other state level officers & officials.
The new drug which will be administered orally will come as a blessing for the drug resistant TB patients since it will free them from the daily painful treatment procedure through injectable drug during the treatment period which may last up to 6 months. STO AP PR
