Aalo, Mar 17:  The joint Indo-Bangladesh White Water Rafting Expedition was flagged off on  March 16 last from Tumbin by the General Officer Commanding 56 Infantry Division Major General Ajai Verma amid cheer and applause.
The expedition which aims to strengthen the bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh and promote adventurism among youth of the district comprised a team headed by Lieutenant Colonel B.N. Jha of the Indian Army along with two officers, one Junior Commissioned Officer and seven other ranks, each from both countries.
The three-day expedition  from Tumbin village in Kaying Sub-Division upto Pangin  in Siang district will be covering a distance of 85 km  challenging waters of Siyom river, where the expedition team is expected to encounter grade 2&3 rapids.
The week long basic training, preparation and planning for the expedition team was carried out at Along Military Station, the coordinator of this joint expedition which culminates on March 18.
During the flagging off ceremony Commander 5 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier C Dayalan and other dignitaries were also present. DIPRO
