ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The Indian Sports Sangh (ISS) will provide good platform for the youths of Arunachal Pradesh said Parliamentary Secretary DoTCL , Tesam Pongte, while attending the launching program of  ISS Arunachal unit here today.

While attending as chief guest, Pongte thanked the National President ISS, Sunil Gupta for launching the state unit. He further added ‘that ISS can provide good platform for sports enthusiasts of the state and can be helpful in keeping youths away from drugs and other contraband substances.

‘Arunachal Pradesh is full of potential and talents in sports but it just requires proper guidance and platform,’ added Pongte.

Speaking on the occasion, the National President ISS Sunil Gupta informed that the ISS is purely a non political organisation and focusing only on sports, education, drug abuse and health sectors. Moreover, ISS is especially focusing on indigenous games and sports of the country, like football, hockey, Kabadi, Kho Kho etc including Arunachal’s indigenous games.

Asserting that the NGO is working for the welfare of sportspersons, Gupta said that the players of India are not getting proper facilities and 85 percent of the facilities and funds are mismanaged by the chairman and deputy chairman of Sports Authority of India and Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Attending the program as guest of honour, Parliamentary Secretary, Legal Metrology Laisam Simai said ‘that India is the second populous country with 61 percent of budding youths and budding sportspersons. Everyone has potential in sports but they just need to identify and explores themselves.’

He also appealed the members of ISS to promote the traditional and indigenous games and sports and to bring it to the national and international level.

20 meritorious sportspersons from the state were also felicitated.
