“Upgrade to BS-VI is an effort of IOCL to ensure a smooth transition, adhere to the pollution norms and ushering digitization,” Ramesh told reporters during a press conference here at the Press Club. As a part of the digitization efforts, several initiatives have been taken which include a unified mobile app to monitor fuel needs of the consumers, issuance of e-receipts, booking of Indane cylinders through WhatsApp, introduction of Toll Free Number 1906 and allowing consumers to send feedback or lodge complaints through www.iocl.com.
In order to promote a cashless economy, Ramesh informed that Indian Oil has also rolled out a cashback campaign wherein a customer can get 10% cashback on refuelling with UPI or card and 40 lucky customers can win Rs 5000 daily. He also mentioned that IOCL has spent Rs 17000 crore on refinery upgrades for BS-VI across India and about Rs 400 crore in the Northeast.
“Many new retail outlets and LPG distributorship have been commissioned in Arunachal Pradesh and nearly 100 in the Northeast states will be retrofitted with modern facilities as a part of Indian Oil's effort to augment the existing infrastructure,” he added.
Ramesh also hoped these oil outlets will not only boost the economy in the region but also provide employment both directly and indirectly to the people living in urban as well as rural areas. Indian Oil authorities further shared the CSR activity figures which suggest that in Arunachal Pradesh, Rs 7 crores have been spent during the last three years.
The ongoing projects under CSR activities include providing drinking water facilities, ambulances and medical equipment to various hospitals and school vehicles to the institutions across state.
