Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
PASIGHAT, Feb 18: The Indian Army organised a mega veteran rally in coordination with the Assam and Arunachal Pradesh State administration today at Likabali Military Station. The rally was formally inaugurated by the Major General Akaash Johar, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Likabali based 56 Infantry Division in presence of East Siang DC Tayi Taggu, representatives of PCDA (P) Allahabad, ECHS, District Sainik Welfare Board, State Bank of India, Ex-Servicemen Cell, District Collector Office, Rajya Sainik Board, Record Offices and officers from Civil Administration.
Addressing the gathering, GOC Johar informed that the motive of the rally was to connect the Veterans, Veer Naris and Veer Matas to address their grievances related to anomalies in disbursement of pension, legal cases and other issues being faced by veterans. He also threw light on the second employment avenues and assistance for re-employment, provided by Army Welfare Placement Organization. The GOC along with the dignitaries inspected the medical and Dental camp organized to mitigate health related issues of Veterans on the occasion.
The GOC felicitated the Veterans, Veer Naris and Veer Matas and recalled invaluable services rendered by the veterans and the supreme sacrifices made by the fallen soldiers in service of the nation. He thanked the Veterans for their presence and lauded civil administration for extending whole hearted support for successful conduct of the event. Success of the event could be gauged through overwhelming participation by Veterans fraternity and smiles on the faces of Veer Naris and Veer Matas, added Johar in his address.
A cultural program was showcased by children from NCC, Dibrugarh.
