Basar, May 27: Heavy and incessant downpour has damaged the strategic road connecting the four districts of Leparada, Upper Subansiri, West Siang and Shi-Yomi and the stretch between Basar and Likabali has remained blocked in many locations.
Efforts are on to clear the major block point near Kamdak Everest village and men and machineries have been engaged for restoring the road for commuters.
Meanwhile, one Falkland working for clearing the blockade was washed away by landslide and the operator somehow managed a miraculous escape. PRO of M/s Shivam Construction, the firm engaged in restoring the road, Kargo Bam has informed that restoration work is expected to be completed by May 28 if weather improves, otherwise it may take a day or two more.
Leparada District Administration is also making efforts to restore communication and has issued advisory to the commuters not to use the road except for urgent needs. PRC AIR & DD Leparada
