KHONSA, Mar, 31Taking serious note of the damages caused on few key roads under the town by contractors engaged in laying OFC cable alongside the road, the Deputy Commissioner Tirap, PN Thungon has seized construction equipment along with two JCB machines on Saturday.

 A case has also been registered under the Prevention of Damage of Public Properties Act and the labourers who were found without ILP were also detained at police station, Khonsa.

The irregularity was detected following several complaints by the public. On direction of DC, later EAC, Judicial, H. Kri inspected the site and found out that the laying of cable work has not been carried out as per the guidelines of highway including other works.

Meanwhile taking serious note of the laxity in such development works, the DC directed cable contractors to restore NH-315A damaged roads portion immediately within seven days and cautioned that further action will be initiated against the concerned agency/contractor if they fail to fix it within the deadline.

In the meantime, the DC also urged all the private telecom companies to improve their services and stated that due to poor internet connectivity all official works including SBI Branch, Khonsa are being badly hampered.
