PASIGHAT, Oct 23: In a major achievement, East Siang police today cracked an illegal arms and weapons supply here in the district. A man with arms meant for supply was arrested today at Ruksin gate, the entry to Arunachal Pradesh from Assam.
As per a press statement from SP Pasighat, Rajiv Ranjan, reliable information was received from sources that some people possessing arms & ammunitions were trying to sneak inside the territory of Arunachal from neighbouring Assam. On receipt of the information SP Pasighat, under his supervision instantly formed a Police team lead by Inspr. Abraham Taying. The movement of the suspects were constantly monitored by the team.
Accordingly, today it was again learned that the suspects with the arms & ammunitions were trying to enter via Ruksin check gate and accordingly a carefully planned operation was launched, informed SP. When the suspect vehicle arrived, the Police team launched a surprise raid and overpowered the suspects.
2 pistols with magazine were seized from the possession of one Hiteswar Kumbang, resident of Jonai.
A case vide Ruksin PS Case No. 16/2019 U/S 25(1A)/29(A)(B) has been registered and is under investigation. The source of weapon & involvement of underground outfits are being thoroughly investigated, informed the Supt.of Police.
