PASIGHAT, Dec 3: One absconding illegal arms and ammunition supplier was arrested at Pasighat on Tuesday. East Siang SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh informed that the accused has been identified as Mahendra Yadav of East Champaran district, Bihar. According to SP Singh, a case was registered earlier on 23rd October, 2019 vide Rkn ps c/no- 16/19 u/s 25(I)A/29 a&b of arms act. One Hiteswar Kumbang of Bahir Jonai, Assam was arrested on October 23 and from his possession two nos of 7.65 mm country made pistols were seized by Ruksin police. During investigation, police learnt that the pistols were sent by one Mahendra Yadav who was traceless and absconding.
On December 1, information was received from reliable source that Mahendra was seen somewhere in Pasighat and after which a trap was laid headed by the OC Ruksin, Inspector T. Tali. The OC along with ASI Apai Jamoh, Ct. Kobmin Potom and Ct. Sosinath Taye successfully arrested the alleged accused after several attempts.
On preliminary investigation, Yadav confessed that the said pistols were bought by him from Muzzaparpur, Bihar paying 20,000/- per piece.
Appreciating the police team for the arrest within short time, SP Singh said it exemplified the efficiency and commitment of the police in maintaining law and order. “I congratulate all the police officers and personnel involved for their promptness and arresting the culprit in record time,” he added.
