New Delhi, Oct 17: The Indian Journalists Union has expressed concern over the brutal murder of the Correspondent of the Telugu daily, Andhra Jyothi, K Satyanarayana at Thondangi Mandal in East Godavari district on Tuesday night.
Satyanarayana, who is reported to have been writing against anti-social elements was returning home from work when the attack took place. He was also earlier attacked a month ago. In a statement, IJU Interim President Geetartha Pathak and Secretary General and IFJ Vice President Sabina Inderjit demanded that Andhra Pradesh government must bring the culprits to book immediately and give compensation to the family of the slain journalist. At the same time, it expressed serious concern at the rising attacks on journalists and reiterated its demand for a safety law in this regard to ensure protection and safeguarding the freedom of press. 
Meanwhile, the union has welcomed Press Council of India’s suo moto notice of cognisance of the attack and its direction to the Government of Andhra Pradesh to submit a report at the earliest.  IJU PR
