ITANAGAR, Jul 6: The Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) has condemned the incident where indigenous and scared altar and images and idols of Donyi Polo and other deities were burnt on July 4 last, the video clip of which has since went viral over Facebook and WhatsApp.
The said incident reportedly occurred at Seppa in East Kameng district and according to IFCSAP, under the instigation of Pastor Pentecostal Church. Taking strong exception to the incident, the IFCSAP through a press release on Monday said that it has hurt the sentiment of the indigenous faith believers of East Kameng district in particular and state as a whole. The Society’s General Secretary Bai Taba termed the act as "illogical which disheartens the emotions of indigenous faith believers of the state and the nation and goes against the Freedom of Religion, a fundamental right guaranteed by the Indian Constitution."
The release added that IFCSAP will never tolerate such humiliating acts which go against indigenous faiths. It has also urged the law enforcers to punish the wrongdoers as per the appropriate provisions of law. IFCSAP PR
