Itanagar, Jul 11: Taking cognizance of the increasing number of Covid cases in the Itanagar Capital Region, the Cabinet, through a virtual meeting, has decided to extend the Capital Lockdown till July 20 next.
During the period, Intensive Surveillance will be carried on at C, E & F sector, Naharlagun.  Contact tracing will also be intensified during this period. The lockdown will also see all the frontline workers from various departments undergo Covid tests.
While informing this, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar said, “We have sufficient quantity of antigen test kits for testing of all frontline workers and suspects.”
No movement of vehicles within Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) will be allowed during this period. No movement will also be allowed to or from the region. However, officers/officials of Central and State Governement posted to Arunachal Pradesh will be allowed to enter the capital following necessary SOP.
Grocery shops and vegetable vendors in sectors and colonies will be allowed to open from 9 AM to 5 PM and will be regulated by the respective DCs. 
The Chief Secretary warned the shopkeepers on selling items at exorbitant prices. He said strict action will be taken against such shopkeepers by the District Administration.
Keeping in view of the heavy rainfall that the state including Capital has been receiving in the last few days, it was also decided that heavy goods vehicle will be allowed to enter from Banderdewa gate.
The Office of the Deputy Chief Minister and the Department of Finance have been added to the list of offices that are to remain open.
The earlier lockdown that had started on July 6th was to open on  July 13.
