ITANAGAR, Dec 18: Continuing the protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), hundreds of students, youths and likeminded people today took out a rally from Tennis Court to Raj Bhawan.
The same group has been protesting against the CAA and were on a sit-in dharna at Tennis court since Tuesday morning. Holding placards and banners, protesters shouted slogans against the Centre and state government.
‘CAA hatao’, CAA se Azaadi’ and ‘Arunachal Bachao CAA Hatao’ were slogans reverberating in the air. The protest drew citizens from all walks of life, especially students from various colleges, universities and youths. They also slammed the state’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu, MP and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju, MP East Tapir Gao for being mute on the CAA issue.
The objective of the protest is to show the central government that we are totally against the CAA. We don’t want in any NE state,’ said a participant.
He also disclosed that protest is also to show solidarity with NESO and other organizations who have filed petition against the CAA in the Supreme Court. “Today was the day of listing the case, so we are here to stand strong with them.”
