ITANAGAR, Jun 25:Students, family members, PRI leaders and public  in hundreds joined the peaceful rally organized by East Kameng District Students Union (EKDSU) demanding justice for late Toko Yame, who was brutally murdered in Tawang in September 2017.

Holding placard and banners participants shouted slogans against the state government and the police department for their failure to arrest the culprits involved in the heinous crime despite nine months of the incident.

Speaking to the media, the deceased father Koya Yame  said ‘ if the state government  and the concern department make such delay in providing justice, one day we will lose hope in  the law and justice system of the state, so I request the law enforcing agencies to immediately arrest the culprits.’

While expressing resentment over the frequent transfers of Superintendent of Police, Tawang, he requested Home Minister Kumar Waii to take serious action.

‘For last nine months, I am wandering pillar to post for justice to my son and now I am begging the state government to provide justice,’ lamented mother Suriam Yame .

She further added ‘the incident happened in the hometown of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, so being a responsible leader he should take initiative to bring out the culprits and to give justice to my son.’

Echoing for the same, AAPSU Vice President Mije Taku also asserted that state government has miserably failed to solve the case. Now this rally is a sign that if the government still fails to respond within stipulated time AAPSU will be compelled to initiate statewide democratic movement, he added.

While slamming the state government for the failure, President All East Kameng District Students Union (AEKDSU) Chakang Yangda  said ‘We are serving a 15 day ultimatum to the state government to solve the case failing which the union will launch economic blockade as its first phase followed by non-cooperation movement.’

Among others, PRI leaders from Bana, East Kameng, AAPSU general Secretary Tobom Dai, students union of NERIST ,APPDSU,AEKDSU,AKDDSU, RGU students union and others joined the rally that start from Akashdeep and culminated at Tennis Court, IG Park, Itanagar.
